Briefing of SBA

     


The School of Business Administration (SBA) of SWUFE, one of the business schools with the longest history, best faculty, and largest scale in southwestern China, regards it an important mission to “Through research, teaching and practice , SBA blends indigenous and overseas management knowledge, to foster management practice, to cultivate competitiveness, and to contribute to the economic prosperity of Western China”, and strives to be a fist-class business school with high degree of internationalization, good academic reputation and great sense of social responsibility in western China.

1997

In 1997, SBA was established.

(Formerly known as Factory Management Department set in 1952.)


2002

Being accredited as one of the first 30 universities and colleges qualified to set up the EMBA program in China   by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as well as the first school setting up the MBA program in southwestern China.

2007

In 2007, SBA founded the Strategic Advisory Committee composed of more than 20 business leaders and deans of domestic and foreign business schools, including Patrick Harker, the former dean of the Wharton School and the current president of the University of Delaware.

Accreditation

In 2010, SBA was accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). In 2014, for the first time, SBA was certified by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). SBA is the thirteenth EQUIS-certified business school in China and the first one in middle western China. In 2015, SBA attained China’s certification of high-quality MBA education; specifically, the highest-grade five-year certification. In 2018, SBA was successfully recertified by the EQUIS.

Full-time faculty members

SBA has the most international-oriented faculty team in Southwestern China in which 34 teachers (34.34%) graduate from reputable overseas universities such as The Wharton Business School, University of Cambridge, Carnegie Mellon University, etc

Academic Power

SBA teachers have published 417 articles in both high-class domestic and international academic journals. Up to 34 SBA research projects have been financially supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and National Social Science Foundation. Up to 28 research reports have been acknowledged and commented on or accepted by government leaders at different levels. SBA has successfully hosted more than 10 domestic and international meetings, and held more than 140 academic lectures.

International Partnership

SBA has established diverse collaboration relationships (e.g., students/scholars exchange and collaboration degree programs on the basis of mutual tuition waiver and credit recognition) with 93 well-known business schools in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, including the Saïd Business School of University of Oxford, University of Delaware, Washington State University and Audencia Business School.

Further, SBA has built multi-level international cooperation with a few world-renowned institutions and enterprises including European Union Chamber of Commerce, Disney, and Marriott.

Students Mobility

Since 2011, 4540 international students have studied in SBA. 872 students participate in the academic exchange programs since 2012.
